He believed that it was caused by occupational exposure to chemicals, because he worked in a chemical plant. He did smoke when he was young, but quit probably in his 30 s. When he reached his 60 s he developed Emphysema, and died in his late 70 s.Is it possible that the doctor that treated him may have misdiagnosed his condition, and what he thought was Emphysema was really Asbestoses? My grandfather built his own house in the 1950 s, and the tile siding that was on his house was made from Asbestos. Is it possible that he may have breathed in some fibers, during the construction process of building his home?
