With a bigger aperture (smaller f-number, eg f/1.8) you can shoot at the same shutter speed in less light, or as you say, have a shorter depth of field.However, remember that all lenses perform best a couple of stops up from wide open anyway so by having an f/1.8 lens it means that it will take sharper shots at f3.5 and above.Cheers, Rob. |
